Cherrybrook railway station

Cherrybrook and West Pennant Hills residents love the Metro. It has made commutes to school and work much faster.

However, locals are struggling to actually get to and from the Metro Station because of limited local busses and parking. Getting the bus from home to the is from some parts of Cherrybrook often takes longer than the train journey to the city. The station car park is often completely full by 6.30 a.m. – and is simply not good enough. The car park should have greater capacity and there should be different parking options – including four-hour and two‑hour spots for those who wish to use the Metro during the day but not necessarily for the morning commute. For many, the lack of parking and accessible bus services means they are forced to rely on being dropped off by family members or friends. That has resulted in local road congestion, particularly during peak hours. 4,000 people tap on at Cherrybrook Metro each weekday morning. However, only 700 people are tapping off a local bus service. That is a huge gap.

James is campaigning for:

  • More frequent and more direct bus routes to the Metro from all corners of Cherrybrook, West Pennant Hills, Dural, Galston and Arcadia.
  • More parking at the station – including half-day spots for those using the Metro for university or travelling to the shops.
